Rockstar has finally put a date on Grand Theft Auto VI: the game is scheduled to launch on November 19th, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S. Preorders are already live, and the publisher is keeping things relatively simple with just two editions and a digital-only release model.
Platforms and release format
GTA VI is coming to current-generation consoles only: Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X / S. There’s no mention of previous-generation hardware, and the launch is focused entirely on these two platforms.
While you will see physical boxes on store shelves, they won’t contain game discs. Instead, boxed versions will include download codes you redeem on PlayStation or Xbox. Functionally, every version of the game is digital, whether you purchase it through an online store or pick up a code in a physical case.
Preload and launch timing
Rockstar plans to open preloading on November 12th, one week before release. If you preorder, you’ll be able to download the game files in advance so you’re ready to play as soon as servers go live on November 19th.
Standard vs. Ultimate edition
Grand Theft Auto VI is launching with two price tiers:

- Ultimate Edition – $99.99
From a preorder perspective, both editions are treated the same. No matter which version you reserve, you’ll receive the same bonus items at launch.
Preorder bonuses: Vintage Vice City Pack
Anyone who preorders, whether Standard or Ultimate, will receive the Vintage Vice City Pack when the game goes live. The pack consists of in-game cosmetics themed around the series’ iconic coastal metropolis. It includes vehicles and other items designed to fit the retro Vice City aesthetic, providing some early customization options for players who want to lean into that style from day one.
